Alamkouh -> Damavand

An amazing 10 days ski touring in the highest mountain in middle east (DAMAVAND) and second highest peak in Iran (ALAMKOOH). Alamkooh and Takht -e- soleiman area, especially the southern side of the mountain is a beautiful and attractive place for ski Touring in the spring in Iran. Due to heavy rainfall in winter in the area and many peaks over 4000 meters it is a suitable place for skiing to mid-spring Peaks such as: Lashgarak – Gardonkooh – Chaloon and many other peaks in the area in the spring and in favorable conditions the main peak Alamkooh (4811m) is also good to ascend. It is also a good place for acclimatization before climbing Damavand. you can see a spectacular view of Alborz mountains over the 4000 meters high peak. Mount Damavand is the highest ski resort in Iran for ski mountaineering, ski touring, wild ski expedition and snowboard. Damavand receives heavy snowfalls in winter because of its vicinity to the Caspian Sea. The south route is not technical and is an ideal route for ski and snowboard. Skiing on other sides is more difficult. Depending to the weather the amount of snowfall is different each year, the ski season may starts from mid November and last until mid May. It is a good idea to check the amount of snow in the area before you fix your plan and travel to the area. South side of mount Damavand is not so steep. Also there is no crevasse in the region. But it is a high mountain, where the snow is wind packed and icy in its higher altitudes. In fact, you should expect different types of snow in different altitudes. We recommend ski touring of Damavand to those who are fit and have previous experience of winter ascents and ski mountaineering in smaller mountains.
