The first ski resort of Iran
The first ski resort to open in Iran and thus having a fundamental effect on the sports development in the country. Recently upgraded with newer lifts. Lifts are 300 to 700 meters long. Located about 57 km north east of Tehran, it is situated at an altitude of 2650 m with a vertical drop of 250 m and offers very nice slopes for beginners and intermediate skiers.
The slope stands at an attitude of 2,800 m. above sea-level in the Haraz Road and at a distance of 50 km from Tehran. This vicinity has scope for other sports like tennis, horse riding and gliding. Three restaurants, a hotel including medical facilities are also available here. The best season for skiing in this area is from late December till mid March.
If we want to take a look at this historical and old ski slope of Abali city and study its history, we must say that this exciting place dates back to 1953 and in fact this place is considered the birthplace of skiing in Iran.
This ski resort, due to its easy access compared to other ski slopes in Tehran, it is much busier and with a pleasant climate, it is a good place to do all kinds of winter sports like downhill skiing (beginners and intermediate) , ski board.

How to reach to Abali ski resort?
There are two main routes to go to Abali ski slope, both of them end in the green province of Mazandaran, and you can enter this famous ski slope from these two routes. These two main roads are “Firoozkooh” Road and “Haraz” Road, which is also known as Imamzadeh Hashem, and starts from Bumehen city and will reach Qaemshahr and Amol cities. The city of Abali and its famous ski slope are located at the beginning of Haraz Road and on the Amol route. In general, the distance from Tehran to Abali ski slope is about 55 km. If you are interested in traveling less distance to reach this piste, you can use the Tehran-Pardis freeway and use this route to enter the Abali ski slope. Using this route will make you travel 10 kilometers less.
Be sure to bring warm clothes, gloves, hats and jackets with you because the weather in this area is very cold and if you do not wear warm clothes, you may have problems.
Fortunately, this beautiful area is also equipped with a variety of shops, and you can buy or rent some of clothes, ski equipment, etc.
