Zagros Mountain range is the longest range in Iran, northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey. This mountain range has a total length of 1,600 km. The Zagros mountain range begins in northwestern Iran and roughly follows Iran's western border, while covering much of southeastern Turkey and northeastern Iraq. From this border region, the range roughly follows Iran's coast on the Persian Gulf. It spans the whole length of the western and southwestern Iranian plateau, ending at the Strait of Hormuz. The highest point is Mount Dena, at 4,409 metres (14,465 ft).
zard Kuh (meaning “Yellow Mountain”, also spelled Zardkooh, Zarduh Kuh or Zard Kuh-e Bakhtiari is a sub-range in the central Zagros Range, Iran. With an elevation of 4221 metres, Zardkuh is located in the Zagros Mountains in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province of Iran. This mountain has many peaks above 3,000 meters and 4 important peaks above 4,000 meters. Klonchi (Klonchin) with a height of 4,221 meters, is the roof of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province and the highest peak of this mountain range. After Klonchi, the peaks of Haft Tanan with a height of 4,180 meters, Shah Shahidan with a height of 4,076 meters and Dozardeh with a height of 4,000 meters are the highest peaks of yellow mountain. There are some glaciers on the mountain owing to the relatively high precipitation, which are the only glaciers in the subtropics outside the Himalayas, Andes and Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt Geologically. Zardkooh normally in the mid of winter is perfect for ski touring. plenty of snow, good slops and not very high mountains make this area an amazing place for one week ski touring.
Majority of Zagros skiing tours are started from Chalgerd city (Kohrang) in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province. Best time for ski touring in Zagros depends on snow condition, is Jan _ Feb and early March.
