Damavand Mt.; the highest peak of middle east

Have you ever heard about Damavand? Do you know that the mountain is the highest peak in the middle east and every climber wish to climb it?

Today, IMT is going to talk about the most famous adventure highlight of Iran.

Damavand peak is located 5,610 meters in the central part of Alborz mountain range in the south of the Caspian Sea and Larijan part of Amol city. The mountain is located 69 km northeast of the Iranian capital so, there are lots of tourists that visit the region every year. Also, Damavand Peak is the highest volcano in Asia and one of the highest volcanoes in the world, it is also considered as the highest peak in Iran and the Middle East. This mountain was registered as the first natural monument of Iran in the list of national monuments and national natural monument too.

 

The main routes to climb Damavand mountain:

Southern face this face is the oldest and easiest way to climb Damavand Peak. To access this route, you should start your ascent from Rineh village. There are two mountain hut at 4,200 meters on this front.

Western face This route is also one of the ways to climb Damavand peak. To go to the western route, you have to go to Haraz and Plour roads and from there enter the Lar dam road and then enter the dirt road of the western front. There is a shelter called Simorgh at an altitude of 4150 meters on this face.

Northeastern face The northeastern route is another way to climb Damavand Peak, which is longer than the other routes. There is a shelter at 4,300 meters called Takht Fereydoun and two eco-camps on this route.

Northern face The beginning of this route starts from Nandel village and the northern part of Damavand mountain in Cham-e-Ben plain. There is a shelter at altitudes of 4000 and one in 4800 meters on this face.

 

Other highlights around Damavand Mountain

The beautiful and dazzling scenes of the region are uncountable, around Damavand Mountain, there are 5 rivers called Haraz River in the south and east of Damavand Mountain, Lar and Div Asyab rivers in the west of Damavand Peak, Panj Ab River in the east of Damavand Mountain and Tineh River in the north of this mountain. Flowing water flows from these rivers throughout the year. During the year, there is about 1,400 ml of rain in the heights of Damavand peak, which is usually in the form of snow in the upper part of the mountain and causes the peaks of this mountain to turn white.

 

Flora and fauna of Damavand mountain

The vegetation in this area is so rich that many of the medicinal plants in this area are world famous and have been mentioned in botanical books. Some plant species of Damavand include astragalus, jasmine rock, chestnut clover, mountain sorrel, Alborzi dandelion, grapevine, dark flower, wild star, Caucasian, Ararat grass, Central Asian wheat grass, roof broom, pink grass, Lavender beard, humorous poppy, golden tongue, elderberry, fragrant parsley and several others. The slopes of Damavand Mountain are also completely covered with anemones Damavand Mountain is the habitat of animals such as foxes, jackals, ewes, goats, dogs, wolves, rams, boars and rabbits. The main animal life of Damavand is birds such as golden eagle, partridge, quail and bat. Other animals that live in Damavand are about 5 types of snakes, scorpions, beetles, mice and burrowers.
