Dalamper Lake is located in one of the most pleasant parts of Iran in Margavar region. The Margavar area is a place that has snow and blue skies in the warm season instead of heat. Dalamper Lake is located more precisely in the southwest of Urmia and northwest of Oshnavieh, near the small town of Dizaj. The Lake is circular and is located at an altitude of 2,700 meters on Dalamper Mountain and has 450 meters in diameter.
From the top of the peak of Dalamper Mountain, you can see Turkey, Iran and Iraq together because the position of region is almost at the zero point of the border. At an altitude of 3,500 meters, this mountain has many glaciers that are very old. There are several Lakes in this mountain except Dalamper. Among them, we can mention Benchul and Dimak Lakes. This mountain is located on the border between three countries, which includes many natural attractions. In this mountain, in addition to Dalamper Lake, you will see several other Lakes and glaciers of several thousand years, which are of spectacular beauty. On the way to the Lake, you will see greenery, grass and mountains on which the whiteness of snow is still visible.
In addition, there are many pastures along this route that turn into plains full of colorful flowers in the spring and show a different and dreamy view of nature.

 

The best time to visit Dalamper Lake

As mentioned, Dalamper Lake is located at the foot of Dalamper Mountain, which is often associated with gloomy weather, snow and rain, especially in autumn and winter. With the end of winter and the arrival of spring and summer, the snow of the mountain melts and many springs and rivers flow from the mountain.

In addition, as the weather warms, the glaciers on Mount Dalamper melt, creating temporary Lakes. As glaciers melt, the region's permanent Lakes, like Dalamper Lake, become more waterlogged. Therefore, at these times of the year, there are beautiful landscapes in this area that you can visit and enjoy the amazing attractions, streams and beautiful waterfalls by traveling to this Lake in spring or summer.

 

Flora and fauna of Dalamper Lake

Dalamper region has unique and unique plant species, such as Almonds, Astragalus, Wild Cherries and etc.  In addition, this region cultivates about 620 plant species such as Sweet William, Bongardia, Physochlaina and Menyanthes trifoliate, each of which is beautiful and amazing in its kind. The animal species of this region are very different and rich from other regions of Urmia, some of which need special care.  Among the animal species of this region, we can mention Rabbits, Jackals, Snakes, Eagles, Antelopes, Brown bears, Foxes and Wolves, some of which you may see in the highlands.

 

Routes to Lake Dalamper

To reach the Lake, you can move on the Urmia- Oshnavieh road and take the path of Dizaj village from the " Agh Bulaq " crossroads. However, it is possible to move to Ziveh from the roadblock route and reach the region. It’s great to know that for this trip, due to the location of the Lake at a high mountain altitude, you will definitely need an off-road vehicle.

After refueling in Dizaj, the asphalt road is approximately eight kilometers to the village of Suleh Dukel, you can drive up to Suleh Dukel waterfall, which is located one kilometer after the village. From the waterfall to Dalamper Lake, you will have about 10 km of rocky road ahead. A large part of this route can be traveled by off-road vehicle, which may take a little over half an hour. Along the way you will be entertained by watching the flowers, bushes and snow that haven’t yet melted. But the last step before reaching the destination is the last one or two kilometers of walking, which can’t be driven due to the destruction of part of the road.  So, you should actually experience a little mountaineering too! It isn’t always going to be easy to reach beautiful tourist destinations, but sometimes to see a pristine and unique view such as Dalamper Lake, you have to experience a little hard and enjoyable mountaineering!
