Damavand Ski Touring

Damavand peak is located 5,610 meters in the central part of Alborz mountain range in the south of the Caspian Sea and Larijan part of Amol city. The mountain is located 69 km northeast of the Iranian capital so, there are lots of tourists that visit the region every year. Also, Damavand Peak is the highest volcano in Asia and one of the highest volcanoes in the world, it is also considered as the highest peak in Iran and the Middle East. This mountain was registered as the first natural monument of Iran in the list of national monuments and national natural monument too. Mount Damavand is the highest ski tour in Iran. Damavand receives heavy snowfalls in winter because of its vicinity to the Caspian Sea. The south route is not technical and is an ideal route for ski and snowboard. Skiing on other sides is more difficult. Depending to the weather the amount of snowfall is different each year, the ski season may starts from mid November and last until mid May.
